MAT 310 -- Geometry Fall 2005
Instructor: Dr. Michelle Zandieh
Announcements
- The final will be December 8, in PSA 303. The
following finals from previous semesters might help you to study.
Remember that we cover slightly different topics each semester, so
theorems we have not covered will NOT be on your test. Likwise
theorems and information we did cover, WILL be on the test.
- The test will cover any in class activites or homework
covered from October 25th until December 6th.
- This includes Parallel Transport Theorems, Problem 10.1,
SSS, AAS, ASS, AAA, EFP, HSP and those theorems they imply, plus the
symmetries of strip patterns and wall paper patterns.
- The
second test will be November 10
in the testing center.
You may start anytime after 12:30, you will have 2 hours to finish the
exam.
To help you study we recommend working on the practice quiz and old test from previous
years.
- Notice some of the questions on these exams may cover
theorems we have not covered (for example AAS or EEAT) these obviously
will NOT be on your test.
- This test will cover any
in class activites or homework from
September 20th until the first three conjetcures from the
Oct. 25th-27th
in class activity.
- i.e. SAS, ASA, small triangles, ITT, ITT
converse, Area of a triangle, Holonomy, Parallel Transports ...
etc.
- The first test
covered any in-class activity or
homework from the first day of class until September 15.
- i.e. Symmetries, Straight Lines, Angles,
Vertical Angle Theorem, Triangles, Congruence...etc.
- In
order to prepare, you can look
at the "quiz" Dr. Zandieh wrote for
this course last time. The questions on this exam will look
similar;
however, they will likely cover different material (as we have had
different discussion in our course).
- A second
test given several semesters ago might also be helpful.
- Welcome
to MAT 310 -- we will
be using this web page to assign homework as well as post in class
activities in case you missed class. We periodically may also
post other important information for the course.

** Note that we allow homework rewrites if your score
is less than an 8.5. For the first homework assignment, your
score is the combined score from your math autobiography and your
problem 1.1. Homework re-writes are due a week after the homework
has been returned.
