and Cognition Seminar will
present brief lecture by Dr. Tom Taylor on the topic of
"Gaussian Random Fields and Occam's Razor,"
followed by a round table discussion.
Abstract.
| The statistical learning theory, as developed by Vapnik, views the learning process as an instance of Bayes' Theorem applied to observed data. Choice of the prior distribution incorporates known constraints. We discuss automated model production using statistical learning theory, and choices of priors which lend themselves to producing simpler models. |
