Spring 2003
Tuesdays 12:15 Goldwater 604
Seminar Schedule:<http://math.la.asu.edu/~tom/cognition/math+cogsched.html>
Our last Mathematics and Cognition Seminar of the Spring semester
will be held on Tuesday, May 6, at 12:15 PM in GWC 604.
Prof. Owen Jones, Professor of Law, Professor of
Biology &
Willard H. Pedrick Distinguished Research Scholar,
College of Law will presend a brief lecture on the topic:
"The Biologically Literate Lawyer,"
| This talk offers a variety of arguments for why legal policymakers,
charged with regulating the behavior of large populations of human animals
in ways that further democratically percolated social goals, can benefit from
knowing more about behavioral biology. In particular, the paper explores
various utilities in law of knowing something about the effects of evolutionary
processes (including natural and sexual selection) on human brains, human
psychology, and human behavioral predispositions. |
