"Journalism vs. Reality: Why News Reports Are Never True"

Steve Doig

Abstract:

"A newspaper journalist with 20 years of investigative reporting experience talks about why news reports have the same relationship to reality as the shadows seen on the cave walls in Plato's The Republic. The reasons he'll describe include everything from newsroom culture to human nature to a popular culture analog of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle."
