A short introduction

I am a visiting assistant professor in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University. Before coming to ASU, I was a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology from August 2009 to June 2010, where I work with Professors Greg Fasshauer and Fred Hickernell. I obtained my Ph.D. degree in 2009 from Syracuse University under the supervision of Professor Yuesheng Xu.

Starting from 2012 Fall, I will be an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Clarkson University.

Research

My research interest lies in the interdisciplinary area of harmonic analysis, computational mathematics, and statistics. Specifically, I have been working on the efficient representation of functions with (reproducing) kernels and frames in the fields of computational harmonic analysis, approximation theory, statistical machine learning, sampling theory, and image processing. Moreover, I am also interested in the regularization methods and optimization algorithms arising in these fields.
