When do a pair of linear partial differential operators completely determine a family of polynomials?

Abstract

We give a simple condition that a polynomial family be completely determined by a pair of linear partial differential operators. The condition discussed here is related to, but distinct from conditions formulated by H. M. Krall and L. M. Sheffer in 1966 and 1967.
