Group Project 2: Rate of Change Write-Up

Your write-up must be
  1. NEATLY hand-written, typed, or word-processed. Points will be deducted if there is any difficulty with legibility.
  2. completely self-contained. That is, someone who reads it without ever having attended this class or having seen the assignment should be able to follow everything you  do. You will need to introduce the problem, the relevant equations, and all of your supporting work.
  3. written in complete sentences. This includes statements using mathematics.
Your write-up must include
  1. a chacracterization of your problem using limit notation as outlined in the approximation framework, and
  2. detailed answers to each of the five questions in the approximation framework given in multiple representations. Specifically you should be able to check off each of the following cells:

contextual
symbolic/
algebraic
graphical
numerical/
tabular
What are you approximating?

What are the approximations?

What are the errors?

For a given approximation, how can you bound the error?

Given a particular bound for the error, how can you find an approximation with that accuracy?

Your group will be assigned a grade based on the quality of your work. We recommend that you split up responsibilities for various parts, complete rough drafts, and include each other on the revisions. You may split up the work be question, by representation, by some other means, or you may work as a group on the entire write-up.
