• For August 28:
  1. Read Chapter 1 of the text.
  2. (In case SAS for Windows is delayed.) Get an ASURITE computer account. Make sure you get access to the research server so you can run SAS. If you have a computer at home, set up your system so that you can access stats.asu.edu.
  3. Investigate or sign up for an online panel survey, for instance at Zogby International or Harris Interactive. Read about how the organization collects and processes data for its surveys. Come to class prepared to discuss your information in light of the survey errors discussed in Chapter 1.
  4. Do Exercise 30 in Chapter 1. Write a page or two describing the survey and critiquing it. Be sure to address issues of coverage, selection bias, nonresponse, measurement bias, questionnaire design, and other nonsampling errors in your critique.
