Advanced questions
Do not underestimate the level of math opened by the vector field analyzer, instead be prepared for quite advanced questions when (students) play(ing) with the vector field analyzer -- they come naturally --- and learning how to ask good mathematical questions may be one of the primary uses of the vector field analyzer. Here, move the lens around the obstacle once (does not matter along which path) and one inescapably runs into the winding number of the derivative (which is nonzero, trace-zero, symmetric -- hence parameterized by a deleted plane) -- the count is 3/2, and you are invited to check this analytically -- what a neat motivation for students to learn about the analytic tools for this intriguing observation!
