"Regularity of optimal controls and bifurcations"
Abstract
In order to determine controllability it does not suffice
to only consider needle variations and similar classical
families of control variations. For example, one also needs
to utilize families of variations with increasing numbers
of switchings. We study the implications of this observation
for the regularity of the optimal controls.
The focus is on the deformation of time-optimal controls
from bang-bang (with a bounded number of switchings) to
"chattering" as system parameters, time, or control bounds
vary.
