Matt Hassett named Director of Actuarial Studies

Matt Hassett will oversee the actuarial program at ASU.

Matt Hassett can be reached at MATT.HASSETT@asu.edu, his office is in PSA 543, and his office phone is 480 727-8543. He and Don Stewart are retired faculty from the department who work as volunteers to assist students.

They:

• Organize and supervise the student actuarial club.
• Serve as job contacts for local actuarial firms looking for students.
• Provide free seminars for each of the first four actuarial exams each semester.
• Counsel students about the actuarial profession.
• Mentor actuarial student research for honors theses.
• Organize the annual spring ASU Actuarial Career Day.
• Work with the Arizona professional actuarial community through the Arizona Actuarial Club and the Casualty Actuaries of the Desert States and look for funding. The Mathematics Department currently has one endowment fund to pay for exam fees in cases of special need.
