How to Apply

Deadlines

The Graduate Committee will begin reviewing completed applications for admission and teaching assistantship positions beginning on January 1 for fall admission. Applications still considered incomplete by the School of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences three weeks before the start of the fall semester will not be considered; you can, however, request that your application be deferred until the following fall semester.

International applicants should allow an additional 4-6 weeks for I-20 and visa processing.

How to Apply

You can apply online to the graduate program at the Graduate College Web site, . You may check your application status with the Graduate College by using MyASU. Your privacy is protected by the use of an ASURITE User ID and password. If you are new to ASU, your ASURITE User ID and instructions for its activation can be found on your application acknowledgement letter. If you need the application materials mailed to you, please send an e-mail directly to the Graduate College Admissions office at grad-q@asu.edu.

The following items are required before an application is considered complete and ready for review by the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. All application materials should be submitted to the Graduate College Admissions.

  1. Submit your application to the Graduate College. http://www.asu.edu/graduate.
  2. Submit the appropriate application fee to the Graduate College.
  3. Submit official transcripts to the Graduate College from all institutions you have attended.
  4. International students must submit an official TOEFL score to the Graduate College. Please see the Graduate College Web page for English proficiency requirements. If you are applying for support as a TA by the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 100 (IBT) is required.
  5. Have official GRE test scores (general scores only; we do not require the subject test) sent to the Graduate College Admissions Office by ETS. The ASU Institution code is 4007.
  6. Submit three letters of recommendation. You will be asked to submit the names and email addresses of three (3) references when you complete the Graduate College application online.
  7. If you are applying for support as a TA/RA, please fill out the TA/RA application form provided (MS Word) or (PDF).
  8. Submit a statement of purpose that specifically addresses your research interests and goals for graduate school. This should be uploaded during the online application process.

Due to the number of applications we receive, you will not be notified by the school until a decision has been made on your application. You are encouraged to check your application status on MyASU or e-mail grad@math.asu.edu. Please include your name and ASU ID number on all correspondence to the school.
