1991 - David Meidinger
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education
- Math in December 1991. I received my Master's Degree in Curriculum
and Instruction - Math in August 1997. I participated in Dr. Kierstead's
Challenge math course in the summer of 1997. I now have the privilege
of presenting ASU scholarships at our academic awards night every May at
Morenci Jr/Sr High.
1991 - Jeff Parent
I received my MA in Mathematics in December of 1991.
I am a tenured faculty member at OCC - Oakland Community College, teaching
Math and Statistics. I have been with OCC for six years now.
1988 - Misha Stempel Vereyken
I am a 1988 graduate from the BA mathematics program.
I earned an MA in Education and a teaching certificate from Stanford University
in 1989. I am now starting my 10th year teaching Mathematics at Palo
Alto High School.
1979 - Tara (Groves) Ball
I graduated from ASU in 1979 with BS in Mathematics.
EDS (Electronic Data Systems) currently employ me in Plano, Texas as a
Senior Systems Engineer. I've been with EDS since 1979 and am working
with system software written in IBM assembler language. I send my
best to Dr. Hassett and Dr. Swimmer. I doubt they remember me but
I'll always remember them.
1977 - Randy Wagner
I hold a BS degree in Mathematics, which I received in
1975 and an MA degree in Mathematics in 1977 from ASU. I am now living
in Central Wisconsin (city of Marshfield) with my wife and two small daughters.
I am currently working right from home (don't you love technology!) for
The Sabre Group (TSG), based in Dallas, Texas doing financial application
work. TSG does all of the data processing for two large airlines,
American and US Airways, as well as numerous smaller companies.
1969 - Judith Gersting
I received my Ph.D. at ASU in Mathematics in 1969 where
I worked with Matt Hassett. I taught mathematics, then computer science,
for many years at Purdue University in Indianapolis. Now I am chair
of the Computer Science Department at the University of Hawaii at Hilo,
although I still go back to Indiana for the summers.. My principal activity
outside of the classroom is textbook writing. The second edition
of Invitation to Computer Science, which I co-authored with Mike Schneider
of Macalester College, published by PWS, just came out last week.
The fourth edition of Mathematical Structures for Computer Science, published
by W. H. Freeman, will be out by the end of the year. I am married,
my husband, John Gersting, also got his Ph.D. in engineering at ASU.
He's also on the computer science faculty here in Hawaii. We have
two sons, now grown. Hawaii, of course is a tough assignment but
someone has to do it.
