NSF: Human and Social Dynamics
: The goals of the HSD priority area are:
- to develop a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to
understanding human and social dynamics;
- to exploit the convergence in biology, engineering, information
technology, and cognition to advance the understanding of
behavior and performance at both the individual and social levels;
- to refine knowledge about decision making, risk, and uncertainty
and to learn how to translate this knowledge into improved
decision making;
- to develop the broad range of infrastructure needed to support
transformative interdisciplinary research; and
- to create relevant large-scale data resources and advance methodological
frontiers, such as agent-based modeling, complex network analysis,
non-linear dynamics, computer-assisted qualitative analysis,
multi-level, multi-scalar analysis, and measurement research
and technologies.
Navy: Advanced Human Behavioral Representation
Techniques
"... we have an increasing need for realistic human behavioral models,
computer-generated forces, and advanced modeling techniques..."
"... advanced techniques for human performance modeling will support acquisition
goals by facilitating a human-centered design process and simulation-based
design evaluation..."
"Research should advance the state-of-the-art in modeling humans and demonstrate
applicability to one or more DOD activities."
AFOSR: Perception and Cognition
(see also: Sensory Systems).
" Multidisciplinary
approaches are also encouraged, especially if useful in the development
of quantitative models of these human performance issues.
